the Dominican

August 7, 2012

I had the privilege of going on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic last week.  While much of my trip will be blogged about on my personal blog, here are some images of the DR that I will not forget.

the wall between poverty and paradise
gardens adorned their homes
a village girl from Chichigua, a Haitian batey (sugarcane village)
trying to find shade
Rachel
a river that runs through, a place where cows and people bathe and clean dishes
a village boy in Tamarindo

carnival day at Makarios school
face painting was a hit!
soccer tournament final -many boys play without shoes
laundry day
a favorite game amongest the kids-a broken broom stick put into a handle off of a plastic milk carton.  Keep the old tire rolling!
we brought trophies for the soccer tournament winners!
this is Darianny, the child we sponsor through Compassion!  This was her first time at the beach!

I absolutely love seeing Elisabel (your 3rd picture)! I am interning with Makarios this summer & as I was searching for Tamarindo, Pancho Mateo & Chichigua I was directed to this blogpost! Praying you are doing well and that the Lord brings the people you met in the DR to your mind often!!
